Sarah Conway is based in Indonesia and serves as a team lead on several CCIF projects, focusing primarily on conservation finance and enterprise development. Working with conservation partners and practitioners she has contributed to the design and development of business plans, endowment fund plans, and financing strategies for a number of protected areas and sustainable business ventures in SE Asia. Sarah is also a Senior Associate at Starling Resources, a consulting group based in Indonesia.
Sarah became interested in working with CCIF in hopes of utilizing her analytical and financial skills to address conservation issues and, more specifically, to ensure that the design and management of conservation programs are grounded in rigorous financial analysis and planning. Sarah believes that getting the greatest possible return on conservation investment requires that conservation programs have clear and measureable objectives, specific metrics for evaluation, and unified management and financial plans to help guide the conservation effort. Sarah enjoys applying her financial background to conservation issues and working with partners to develop financial models, business plans, and diversified financing strategies to ensure that programs are well thought through and financially sustainable. Sarah previously worked with Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO) where she was a fixed income Portfolio Associate, and was an Analyst in Citigroup’s two-years Sales & Trading Analyst Program during which she gained experience in U.S. fixed income interest rate sales and Asia Pacific equity sales.
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with the Leadership Studies Sequence from Claremont McKenna College and is a CFA Level III Candidate. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys photography, diving, playing and coaching soccer, exploring Bali and other parts of SE Asia, and spending time with friends.
