Matthew Elliott

 

Matthew Elliott joined CCIF in 2005 and is based in San Francisco where he focuses on strategic planning for nonprofits and foundations, particularly in marine conservation. Matt brings a broad environmental science background and a decade of experience working with leading environmental nonprofits. Matt is also a Senior Associate with CEA and is the Conservation Director of the Sea Change Investment Fund. Matt has represented a range of clients including the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Environmental Defense Fund, the Ocean Conservancy, and private foundations.

 

An environmentalist at heart, Matt has always been interested in the innovative application of economics and financial tools as the most effective way to create change. Prior to joining CCIF, Matt served as a Senior Research Associate at Redefining Progress, a progressive think tank focused on sustainability. At Redefining Progress, Matt primarily worked on energy issues, including the economic and health effects of climate change. Additionally, he has worked and consulted for several groups active in ocean conservation issues, including Environmental Defense Fund, Natural Resources Defense Council, Seaweb, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and the Pew Oceans Commission.

 

Outside of work, Matt enjoys everyday life and playing as much frisbee as he can find. Matt holds a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and Public Policy from Harvard University and a master's degree in Environmental Change and Management from Oxford University.
