Hirason Horuodono, a commercial diver with
an educational background in marine science and an expert in coral
reef monitoring, has extensive experience conducting field assessments,
data analyses, and community stakeholder consultations. He assists
our partners in the Spermonde Archipelago in Sulawesi and Karimunjawa
National Park in Java in preparing business plans for sustainable
financing of conservation strategies and conducts fieldwork on the
feasibility of conservation concessions. He also conducts training
for aquarium fishermen to become certified and facilitates other groups
in the ornamental fish industry to transform their practices to become
more sustainable.
Mr. Horuodono started his career as a freelance diver and has worked for
various science projects with government institutions such as LIPI
(Indonesian Science Institution) and non-government conservation groups
like the World Wildlife Fund for Nature. In 2000, he received his
dive master certificate from POSSI (Indonesian Subaquatic Sport Association).
Mr. Horuodono holds a B.S. in Marine Science from Hassanuddin University,
Makassar, Indonesia and is a certified POSSI Dive Master.
